Have you a Vocation to the Tau Community of Saint Francis ?

Are you wondering if God is calling you to become a Monastic in the Tau Community? Here are a few suggestions for discerning your calling.

I. Discerning:

  • How long have you asked yourself, maybe I should be a nun?
  • Why do you ask yourself this question?
  • Have I met someone who lives this Franciscan Life?

II. What steps have I taken:

  • I gathered information on different online Monasteries
  • I am just beginning my search

III. What am I looking for in life?

  • To live a life of prayer
  • To live a life of prayer in an online Community
  • To live the Gospel Way of life or the spiritual traditions of your own beliefs
  • Maybe I don’t know exactly what I am looking for but I want something more in life.

IV. What the Tau Community life is not:

  • It is not an escape from the troubles and problems of life.
  • It is not a choice of life because nothing else worked out.

V. What the Monastic life is:

  • This life is a seeking out of the will of God and is a service to all of the nine major religions and a responsibility toward all people.
  • It is a sign to the rest of the world that the One alone is absolute and may be found, for when one person finds God it helps others find God.
  • To live highest poverty for material detachment, to understand poverty today and put it into practice. This leads to a true freedom and to living a simple way of life.

VI. What are the steps to becoming a Monastic in the Tau Community?

  • Contact the Vocation Director by email: brothersean@btinternet.com
  • Pre-entrance Process. It begins with the initial contact with the Vocation Director and prepares you for the admission into the Postulancy Program. The length of this stage depends
on individual needs. No one is rushed through the process. You will be given the time and the space you need in which to discern your calling in conjunction with the Abbott, Abbess and Vocation Director.

VII. What are the stages of formation?

  • Postulancy: Postulancy is a six to twelve-month program of orientation to
our Franciscan Celtic Life and Spirituality.
  • Novitiate: The novice in this time of Novitiate will intensify his/her Tau Franciscan identity and their prayer life. It marks the formal entrance into the Tau Community life and culminates in the taking the Sevenfold vows of Peace. For those who are of the Christian tradition and who are single are invited to consider taking temporary vows of Poverty, Chastity, Obedience.
  • Temporary Profession: As a newly professed Franciscan you will continue to learn about the vocation and way of Gospel and or Spiritual living in accordance with your own faith.
  • Solemn Profession: After a minimum of three to five years depending on one’s spiritual maturity of living as a Tau Franciscan in Temporary profession of Vows, the monastic will make his/her life commitment by entering into Solemn Profession of Vows. This marks the beginning of full, lifelong membership in the Order of the Tau Community.

VIII. The benefits of being a member of an online Franciscan monastic community:

  • Unlike a conventual monastery where one has to leave one’s family, home and friends, this is not the case when you become a member of Tau online community; you become a valued member of our cyber monastic community.
  • To provide the new member with ongoing spiritual support, the new trainee monastic is encouraged to join us for online prayers on our Daily Prayer Channel’s for a monastic experience. Our prayers go live at 08.00 Hrs AM and 05.00 Hrs PM GMT-LONDON Time Zone.
  • During the Postulancy formation program, the new postulant discerns if the Lord or their God whom you love is calling you to join the Tau Family as a member of our online monastic community from your monastery without walls – your home, where you are meant to be, then do discuss your inquires with one of the formation team.

Contact Brother Sean Mary TCOIF at brothersean@btinternet.com. We encourage all inquires to visit the Tau Community’s website and scroll through the various documents and watch the
informative videos about the Tau Franciscan family. If this has whet your appetite, then proceed to contact us.
